0 Conditional - general truth or scientific fact

1 Conditional - real situation likely to happen in the present or the future

2 Conditional - unreal imaginary situation in the present or the future / advice

3 Conditional - imaginary situation in the past / regrets / criticism
If she had told me the truth, I wouldn't have been so mad at her.
Regret about a present situation which we want to be different
I wish I had a faster computer. (but I don't)
If only she wasn't/weren't so rude to me. (but she is)
Wish/regret in the present concerning lack of ability
I wish I could afford a new car. (but I can't)
Regret about something which happened or didn't happen in the past
I wish I had taken your advice. (but I didn't)
If only we hadn't lost his address. (but we did)
A polite request; wish for a future change
I wish you wouldn't leave your clothes on the floor.
If only it would stop raining.
Reported speech is the exact meaning of what someone said but not the exact words. We don't use quotation marks in reported speech and the word that can either be used or omitted.
